Biology Education
The Biology Education specialization prepares students for careers as secondary-school biology teachers. It is offered in conjunction with the College of Education and Human Services. The major includes all requirements specified by the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Science Teachers Association and leads to certification for teachers of "Science with a designation in Biology".
Students completing this major must apply to, and be accepted by, the Teacher Education Program of the College of Education & Human Services. Students must complete Biol 200A and 200B before admission to the TEP.
Bio Ed students must complete laboratory safety and animal care training prior to student teaching.
TEP application deadlines: February 1st, June 1st and September 1st.
