Biomedical Science

The Biomedical Science specialization is appropriate for students planning careers as chiropractors, dentists, medical doctors, optometrists, pharmacists, physical therapists, physician assistants, or podiatrists, or those planning to attend graduate school in a human-health discipline. The major includes all pre-health requirements specified by the College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences Health Professions Information Office. Pre-professional students must register with the College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences Pre-Health Professions Advisement Office.

The Health Professions Information Office (HPIO) provides guidance concerning requirements of and application procedures to the various schools. The office also compiles the preprofessional files of students who will be applying to medical (including osteopathic medical), podiatry, optometry and dental school and works with the Health Preprofessional Committee in recommending those applicants.
